No Shortcut To The Promise Land: Exodus 13:17
Rev. Dr. Pastor Crosby, Pastor INDEFINITE SERMON TOPIC- "No
Shortcut To The Promise Land. Exodus 13:17. Moses was born for a
certain reason. We all are born for a certain reason.
First, let me share this: Mary and myself was talking on sunday
morning before going to worship services and I was sharing with
her about Messianic Jews which are Christians and Arab Christian
Ministries. I shared with her that the Book of Acts is a great
book to read and I shared different scriptures in Acts with her.
On Sunday, September 1, 2002 I was attending worship services
with Mary at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis,
Mo. and the Pastor is Rev. Dr. Curtis Crosby.
On the Order of Services program what really caught my eye was
Pastor Crosby's INDEFINITE SERMON TOPIC- "No Shortcut To The
Welcome The Lessons When we read of the great men of old, the mighty and the strong, the courageous, the faithful, those who slew thousands and ten thousands . ..... Promise Land" Exodus 13:17
The Sermon text came from Acts 6:1-4.
The pastor told us to look at "brethen" in verse 3.
He did share that Wisdom is the fear of the Lord. The church
The Power Of RitualAs humans, we are the species that operate with symbols. Other animals use familiar signs, ..... must have strong leaders in order for the church to grow.
Leadership is not an option but a principle. In the Old
Testament we are introduced to strong leaders. Moses was born
for a certain reason. We all are born for a certain reason. When
Moses came down from the mountain nobody had to ask him where he
had been. He talked about the Kings of Israel. He talked about
Joshua being Moses successor who was anointed.
In his sermon he talked about "Joshua", "Levites" and "Ark of
the Covenant."
When the time came for Acknowledgements of Visitors I did stand
and I told the church and Pastor I enjoyed the sermon. I told
the church and Pastor that it was just amazing how he spoke from
Acts for I had shared with Mary about studying from Acts before
we came to church.
I also shared with the Pastor/church that on fridays that I
share with others from Acts 3:1-6 using key words: "Peter and
John, went up, together, hour of prayer, ask, look on us."
I did share with them that after 9/11 it made me take a good
look at the times and it was time to get serious. I told them
that Peter and John, "went up, together" to my understanding
they literally went up because the temple was higher off the
ground, they were on one accord, "the hour of prayer, ask" they
had faith, they asked knowing they would receive, and "look on
us" was not a selfish request.
When I took my seat the pastor thanked me for sharing and then
he told me let me add something else "WHEN you go to JERUSALEM
you always GO UP."
After services were over I did go to shake the pastor's hand and
then he told me I wish I had more time to share with you; then
he began to talk to me about the Book of Acts, Stephen, Philip
and told me to study about Stephen and Philip.
I then asked him for his address and I asked do you have a card
that you can give me? One of the assistant/associate pastors did
go and get me one of his cards.
When I looked at the card, it was imprinted in red with the
scripture "I Can Do All Things Through Christ Which Strengthen
Me" Phillippians 4:13.
I began to think later sunday night I just wonder if this card
relates to DANIEL and when I did a cross reference on
Phillipians 4:13 it lead me to II Corinthinas 12:9.
verse 9 "To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the
gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
verse 10 "To another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another differ
kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues;
verse 11 "But all these worketh that one and the selfsame
Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
verse 12 "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all
the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also
is Christ.
verse 13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,
whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and
have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
There are some amazing facts about my trip to St. Louis might
think they were coincidence. For one my daddy was sick but even
before that I had a dream.
