The Empathy Trap
The empathize trap is a real phenomena, it happens when we feel sorry for others who use this to get us to give them something. It is a technique, which is used by babies who cry, children, chimpanzees and mastered by adult humans. If we are not careful we may find our entire nation falling into an empathy trap after a large natural disaster. For instance after Hurricane Katrina we found new reporters attempting to justify looting, but in careful review of the video footage we found police on duty stealing and many a person on a mission to collect a 96 inch Flat panel, HDTV.
The empathize trap is when someone makes a choice in life and then that choice leads them to a place and once in that place they want us to fix their problems. When we do this they learn nothing and may even repeat that mistake over and over again. When giving into the empathy of users and abusers, manipulators and masters of this technique, we cause too problems. We deceive ourselves and we allow the other to continue the lie, which makes them weak and not productive and an over all sponge on society.
The empathy trap costs people their internal sense of responsibility. It costs taxpayers money and it is no different than giving a man a fish instead of teaching them to fish, which so often Christians warn us is not the best policy. The empathy trap is alive and well. Think on this the phenomena is real and it really needs to be addressed.
