The Origins of Erotic Art
Erotic Art can be said to have been one of the earliest
expressions of art in all of history. It is also true to say
that throughout the known world, or perhaps more accurately,
within the non Christian or non Catholic world, human sexuality
was celebrated as a fundamental part of daily wife and was done
so in a committed way.

and biological reproduction. These actually represented
different aspects of our lives and were both felt to represent
elements certainly not to feel ashamed of.
Indeed in many historic cultures it was felt that the act of
physical orgasm meant a far more direct way of accessing one's
chosen path of divinity. Therefore it can be regarded as being
an essential part of several cultures and civilisations.
It can be said to have been reawakened in the 1960's and 70's so
called sexual revolutions. The latter perhaps represent the fact
that sex was always an issue but perhaps considered more taboo
until then by the majority of Western civilisations.
In summary, nobody should feel surprised at the prevalence and
variation of available erotic art present today. The majority of
non-Western cultures have and abundance of such art, much of was
made for purely educational purposes.
It is certainly true to say that in the 21st century that the
subject of sex remains a hugely controversial subject, this
