Wednesday at Christian Rehab

by Kristyne McDaniel

A typical Wednesday at Christian rehab at Eternal Awakenings starts out with a 6:30AM wake-up call.  This is followed by breakfast at 7AM.

Christian rehab continues after breakfast with prayer and meditation for about thirty minutes.  After prayer and meditation, Christian rehab continues with a Process Group.  The Process Group covers feelings and actions.  Wednesday is Process Group for Feelings.

At 9:30AM on Wednesday, Christian rehab at Eternal Awakenings offers lectures on the 12-step program.  Recreation follows the lecture and continues until lunch.

Lunch on Wednesdays at Christian rehab at Eternal Awakenings is usually ham sandwiches and chips.  The lunch is always at 12:05PM.

There is another Process Group for Feelings at Christian rehab on Wednesdays.  It happens directly after lunch and it is an hour and a half long, just like the morning session.

The Process Group is followed by a Christian rehab Bible lecture.  Journaling is stressed at Christian rehab and this is addressed after the Bible lecture.

A day at Christian rehab is highly structured.  The journaling that is done in the afternoons includes entries about the patient’s life story.  There is also an important part of journaling where relapse is addressed and a plan is formulated.

Participants in Eternal Awakenings Christian rehab also are encouraged to write a good-bye letter to their drug of choice.  There are assignments by the staff of the Christian rehab to direct the journaling project.

Supper is served every day at 5PM.  After supper, Christian rehab continues into the evening with a lecture from a series.  Wednesday is a lecture on Addiction and Spirituality.

The nightly lecture usually concludes at 7:30PM and then there is a community Christian support group that visits the Christian rehab.  There is another meditation and Bible study time at 9:30PM.

There is free time available at the Christian rehab for 30 minutes, from 10:30PM until lights-out at 11PM.  Wednesdays are pretty much the same as every other day of the week.  There is a tight adherence to the schedule and only lecture topics really change.
